The Palace on Wheels luxury train will return on the tracks by September. According to Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) Chairman Dharmendra Rathore, the famous luxury train will likely run from September onwards.
Several meetings with company representatives are now in progress for a public-private partnership to bring back the state’s most beloved train. Rajasthan must capitalize on the popularity of Palace on Wheels, which is undoubtedly one of the state’s most prestigious tourism products.
A delegation of the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR) recently met with the RTDC Chairman at the Paryatan Bhawan in Jaipur when he announced these announcements.
A COVID-19 outbreak has prevented the luxury train from operating for the past two years. However, the RTDC is planning to get back on track as things seem to be improving gradually.
Indian Railways and RTDC have operated the luxury train together since 1982. It is believed that the train was inspired by the personal coaches of erstwhile rulers and features enhanced amenities. Every coach has several chambers, and each chamber is further decorated according to local traditions.
