There has been a green light given to tourism activities in Corbett’s Garjia Tourism Zone by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).
Reports indicate that this zone of Corbett has been operating since December 2020, but no clearance has been obtained from the apex tiger conservation body regarding its operation.
This zone has also been closed for tourism activities a few months ago by the NTCA when the activities were found to be violating laws that were deemed dangerous to wildlife.
According to reports, an official communique has been signed by Mr. Bhanumathi G, AIG of Forests NTCA, which appears to be giving the green light for the opening of the zone as per reports.
However, the clearance comes with a rider that states that the clearance is subject to the condition that no deviation is made that is in violation of the guidelines set out by the NTCA.
According to the latest developments, Corbett’s Bijrani zone is scheduled to reopen for night stays and jungle safaris as per schedule on October 15, and online bookings have already begun for the upcoming season.
Director of Corbett Tiger Reserve, Dheeraj Pandey, further revealed that preparations were going on in full swing in order to reopen the Bijrani and Dhikala zones on October 15th and November 15th, respectively, as scheduled, by the end of the month. Aside from the fact that both zones have night stays, he also stated that damaged roads will be repaired and necessary arrangements will be in place before the season starts.
