Air India Announced Weekly 3 Flights Between Delhi and Kathmandu

delhi-kathmandu

Air India, India’s national airline, announced a weekly flight schedule between Delhi and Kathmandu, Nepal, on Friday, saying it will fly nonstop to the Himalayan nation on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

According to reports in the media, the national flag airlines of Nepal and India have expanded the number of weekly flights on the Kathmandu-Delhi route from two to six as part of an air bubble agreement between the two nations.

Currently, both nations’ airlines are operating flights under an air bubble agreement between Nepal and India that enables one weekly trip in each direction despite the COVID-19 pandemic’s travel restrictions.

However, with an exponential growth in the number of departing passengers from Kathmandu, most of whom are flying for medical treatment, demand for tickets has increased, and people have been racing to acquire tickets on the route.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal’s spokesperson, Raj Kumar Chettri, informed the Kathmandu Post that Nepal Airlines and Air India will each be allowed to fly three flights each week beginning Monday.

Schedule

Air India will now fly flights on the sector on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, as per the authorised schedule, while Nepal Airlines, which currently conducts services on Wednesdays, has yet to receive slot clearance from India’s civil aviation authority.

It should be remembered that the Nepalese government issued a second shutdown on April 29, restricting internal and international flights from midnight on May 3 and midnight on May 6, respectively.
