A beautiful Southeast Asian nation aims to promote tourism by removing all entry restrictions on COVID-19 for those that have been fully vaccinated as of Monday.
According to the official, Coronavirus infections and deaths have decreased significantly in the country. 9452As a result, tourism has been reinstated in the country.
In 2020, the number of international travelers dropped by 80 percent. The small nation received only 4.7 million foreign visitors in 2021. To enter the country, travelers had to complete seven days of quarantine, as well as show a negative test report, after the Laos government put in place COVID-19 curbs in January 2022.
Tourists were also not permitted to enter certain regions except with official tour groups.
Deputy Minister and Deputy Head of Prime Minister’s Office, Tripphakone Chanthavongsa, said the government believes it’s time to develop the economy by relaxing COVID-19 curbs on tourists.
Laos’ international checkpoints will be reopened, but only for those who have been fully vaccinated. For those who are unvaccinated, a Rapid Antigen Test report issued within 48 hours of departing the origin country will be needed.
When tourist tests were positive for COVID-19, the costs of medical treatment and medication must be borne by the tourist. As of this writing, Laos has reported 663,533 Coronavirus cases and 16509 deaths.
