Air India will start 24 additional domestic flights from Saturday onwards to improve the connectivity between metropolitan cities. Most of these flights will operate along the main metro routes, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
In addition, Air India will add two new frequencies that run from Delhi through Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad, and between Mumbai, up to Chennai and Hyderabad. A new frequency for the Mumbai-Bengaluru route and the Ahmedabad-Pune route will also be added.
“The additional 24 flights include two new frequencies from Delhi to Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad, and from Mumbai to Chennai and Hyderabad, as well as one new frequency on the Mumbai-Bengaluru route and Ahmedabad-Pune route,” the airline stated in an announcement.
In a statement on the network’s growth, Campbell Wilson, MD, and CEO of Air India said, “This expansion bolsters connectivity between key metros, and improves connectivity between Air India’s domestic and international networks. Over the past six months, Air India has been working closely with our partners to return aircraft to service, and we are delighted that this effort is now bearing fruit.”
Air India’s narrowbody fleet has 70 aircraft in service, out of which 54 are operational. The remaining sixteen aircraft are expected to gradually be restored to service by the beginning of 2023. The airline launches additional flights to connect key metropolises
