Beginning October 1, 2022, travelers to Thailand will no longer need to show proof of vaccination or ATK test results.
On October 1, 2022, Thailand’s CCSA will reclassify Covid from “a dangerous communicable disease” to “a communicable disease under surveillance,” which will lift the nationwide Covid-19 Emergency Decree.
The COVID-19 Emergency Decree, which has been in effect since March 25, 2020, will expire at the end of 2021, and the CCSA will automatically be dissolved, and all regulations, announcements, and orders issued by the Prime Minister, Cabinet, and the Government under the decree will be null and void.
Foreign tourist arrivals have picked up since July when Thailand scrapped pre-arrival registration, Covid testing, and insurance. From Jan. 1 through Sept. 21, 5,26 million people arrived, he said. Compared to 427,869 tourists in 2021.
According to the central bank, Thailand’s tourism sector accounted for about a fifth of its economy and jobs before the pandemic, with nearly 40 million overseas visitors arriving in 2019.
Thailand Reopening
In July 2021, Thailand will gradually reopen to international tourism with Phuket Sandbox, Samui Plus, and 7+7 Extension.
As a result of this, a reopening timeline of four phases was developed from October 2021 to January 2022.
The country reopened on July 1 after the Thailand Pass registration scheme was removed, and foreign nationals will need to present vaccination proof or a negative ATK test within 72 hours;
There is one last requirement related to Covid-19 that will also be removed on October 1, 2022, as well.
It is important for tourists to be able to stay for a longer period of time
The cabinet approved extending the period of stay for visa-exempt tourists to 45 days (from 30 days), and for Visa on Arrival (VOA) applicants to 30 days (from 15 days). From October 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023.
The visa-on-arrival scheme now allows foreign tourists from 18 countries to stay in Thailand for up to 15 days. Visa-free entry to the country is available to more than 50 countries, and visitors can stay for 30 days.
There were previously 15 days added to the entry stamp to compensate for the two weeks required for “Sandbox” time.
