From November 4, Kuwait’s low-cost airline Jazeera Airways will operate two flights a week from Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) to Bengaluru, connecting Bengaluru with the west Asian nation and further.

Targetted at tourists and business travellers, the private airline plans to operate from Bengaluru on Fridays and Sundays and will have return flights from Kuwait City on Thursdays and Saturdays.

As he made an announcement at an event in Bengaluru Thursday, Andrew Ward, Vice-President (Marketing) of Jazeera Airways, said that the Bengaluru-Kuwait flights are a key step towards the airline’s expansion in India.

As the only direct route from Bengaluru to Kuwait, it is of particular importance to us. As a private airline, there are few direct flights from Garden City to Kuwait. Furthermore, Ward said he hopes to attract Indian travelers to Kuwait City as a transit point for Jazeera flights to European destinations.

“As a low-cost airline, Jazeera entered India in November 2017 with daily flights between Hyderabad and Kuwait. In India, we expanded our operations to Ahmedabad, Kochi, Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai. Our Trivandrum operations began on Monday.” According to Bharathan Ravindran, Vice-President (sales), Jazeera Airways, Bengaluru operations will begin on Thursday.

On November 4, Jazeera flight J9 432 is scheduled to take off from KIA at 2 am and land in Kuwait after five hours and 25 minutes. However, Flight J9 431 will depart Kuwait on Thursday and land in Bengaluru on Friday morning. Booking tickets are now available on Jazeera’s official website, according to sources.
