A discussion between the Governments of Bihar and Madhesh Pradesh of Nepal was held on Tuesday as part of the celebrations of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. There were discussions about “promoting tourism between the governments of Nepal, Bihar and Madhesh Pradesh”.

This initiative is designed to promote bilateral tourism and alleviate the difficulties faced by tourists from both countries, the consulate stated in a press release. Madhesh Pradesh’s Minister for Industries, Tourism, and Forests, Satrughan Mahato, was the chief guest. There was a discussion about the connections between Chitwan National Park, Parsa National Park, and Valmiki Tiger Reserve.

Similarly, Nepal is actively attempting to revive its hard-hit tourism industry with the help of the National Tourism Revival Committee, which collaborates with both public and private sector stakeholders. A tourism revival committee has been formed to advise the government in various areas, including promotional events, policy reforms, infrastructure, branding, marketing, and product development.

The Ramayana, Buddha, and Jain circuits link tourist destinations in India and Nepal. According to the release, the focus was on promoting tourism destinations in Bihar’s East and West Champaran districts and Madhesh Pradesh. Several issues were discussed regarding the establishment of a Help Desk at the border, according to the consulate release.

It was agreed that the Minister would research how road taxes and other taxes collected from Indian vehicles in Nepal could be improved and streamlined. In addition, he assured the participants that the points raised had been noted, and that appropriate measures would be taken to resolve the issues.
