For the first time, Cambodia has reopened to fully vaccinated foreigners, which is expected to give its tourism industry a much-needed boost. Cambodia is one of Asia’s top attractions, but the pandemic shut down its tourism industry, halting its rise in revenue.

According to Cambodia’s Prime Minister, fully vaccinated travelers can now enter the country without being quarantined, whether for leisure or business purposes. The tourism industry in Cambodia brought in USD 6.6 billion in 2019, but it dropped to USD 1 billion in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Prime Minister Hun Sen said in an audio message on Facebook, “Once they arrive and we confirm they have received two doses of vaccine, we will take swabs for rapid testing. After the results show they are Covid-19-free, they are allowed to travel.”

It is also expected that Siem Reap, also known as the gateway to Angkor Wat, will be reopened earlier than January.

From November 15, 2021 onwards, the Prime Minister ordered the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Tourism to implement these measures.
