The Delhi airport has been declared the cleanest and one of the best airports in the Asia Pacific region by the Airports Council International (ACI), a non-profit organization of airport operators.
Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), which is a consortium of GMR Airports Infrastructure Ltd, revealed that the recognition was based on the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) program, the world’s leading airport customer experience measurement and benchmarking program.
The award was based on live research, with surveys conducted at the airport and direct feedback from travellers, who rated their satisfaction on the day of travel.
According to reports, the Delhi airport received the ASQ award and was named the best airport for 2022 in the category of over 40 Million Passengers Per Annum (MPPA). It also won the title of the cleanest airport in the Asia Pacific region. The survey evaluated more than 30 performance indicators of a passenger’s airport experience, such as ease of check-in, wayfinding, shopping, dining, and other amenities.
In a separate statement, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) announced that Tiruchirappalli International Airport was rated the best in the Asia Pacific region in the category of under 2 million passengers ACI.
In 2022, more than 465,000 surveys were collected, and a total of 75 airports received approximately 144 awards globally. Delhi airport won in the cleanest airport category, making it the only Indian airport to win an award.
