It has been announced on Monday that the Union Health Ministry will be ending the requirement of uploading self-declarations on the Air Suvidha portal as a major relief to international passengers arriving in India.
Until now, all international passengers arriving in India have to fill out the Air Suvidha form, which asks questions about recent travel, current health, and a variety of topics. The revised order is scheduled to come into effect on November 22.
As outlined in the announcement from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, “In the light of sustained declining COVID-19 trajectory and significant advances being made in COVID-19 vaccination coverage both globally as well as in India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has issued revised ‘Guidelines for International Arrivals.”
In addition to this, it is also worthwhile to note that India has recently eased the mask requirement for all domestic and international travelers by stating that all passengers should wear a mask or face cover while traveling and that there will be no fines or penalties if passengers do not wear masks.
Revised Guidelines for International Arrivals
A revised set of guidelines has also been issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation for international arrivals, which state that, “All travellers should preferably be fully vaccinated as per the approved primary schedule of vaccination against Covid-19 in their country.”
The following are seven key points from India’s most recent international visitor guidelines.
1. It is a requirement that all passengers have received full vaccinations against Covid-19 according to their country’s primary vaccination schedule.
2. Travellers with symptoms of Covid-19 should be isolated while travelling as per standard protocol.
3. A mask must be worn by the person, he or she must be isolated from the other passengers and transferred to an isolated facility for follow-up treatment.
4. Social distancing should also be followed by deboarding.
5. All passengers should be thermally screened by health officials at the point of entry.
6. If any passengers are found to be symptomatic during screening, they should be isolated immediately and given proper medical treatment according to health protocol.
7. It is also recommended that all travellers self-monitor their health upon arrival and report to the nearest health facility as soon as possible.
