From July 1, Thailand will no longer require Thailand Pass and Health Insurance

Last but not least good news for travellers to Thailand soon: the Thai government will stop requiring visitors to Thailand to have Thailand Passes and $10,000 medical insurance before entering the country.

Starting June 1, the Thai government has already removed both requirements for Thai nationals;

Thai Tourism Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakan has proposed scrapping the Thailand Pass requirement entirely.

No Thailand Pass & Health Insurance

Thailand’s COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has approved the end of Thailand’s Thailand Pass registration scheme and the requirement of US$10,000 health insurance for international travellers. The changes will take effect on July 1, 2022.

Thailand’s New Entry Rules From July 01

In 2022, foreign travellers will only need to provide proof of a current vaccination certificate, a negative RT-PCR test result within 72 hours of departure. Printouts or digital copies of these documents are acceptable.

Random inspections will be conducted at Thailand’s land border crossings and international airports (in 22 provinces).

Travellers who are not fully or unvaccinated go randomly screened and cannot provide proof of a negative test before arrival will be subjected to a professional ATK (Antigen Test Kit) test.

Furthermore, the CCSA has agreed to eliminate most of the restrictions related to Covid, including;

  • Masks are only compulsory for crowded areas.
  • Entertainment venues can open as usual.
  • No temperature screening.
