From Nov 1, Akasa Air will allow passengers to bring pets on board

Starting next month, Akasa Air will allow passengers to bring their pets on board. Domesticated cats and dogs can now be brought on flights starting November 1, and bookings will begin October 15.

A maximum of one pet weighing 7 kilograms will be allowed per passenger, according to the airline.

Akasa Air said that “In our first phase of pet policy we will allow domesticated cats and dogs. We will progressively enhance our pet policy going forward.”

Belson Coutinho, Co-Founder, and CMO of Akasa Air said;

“As part of our commitment to creating an inclusive travel experience, we will now allow pets on board Akasa flights.“

Additionally, as part of Akasa’s commitment to creating a humane and inclusive travel experience, Akasa Air will offer pet-friendly flights from 1st November 2022, allowing passengers to take their pets with them. We have partnered with Umeed for Animals Foundation to ensure smooth pet-friendly travel for pet parents and their wards.”

The only Indian airline that allows passengers to carry pets on flights is Tata-owned Air India.

On the other hand, Akasa Air, which began operations on August 7 of this year, has a fleet of six aircraft and plans to add one every 15 days.

“By the end of this fiscal year, we will receive 18 aircraft, and by the end of our five-year plan, we will receive 72 aircraft,” said Vinay Dube, CEO, and founder of the company.
