Hemkund Sahib, a Sikh holy abode in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, is set to open its gates at 10.30 am on May 22. According to news agency ANI, only 5000 devotees will be permitted to visit Shri Hemkund Sahib every day this year. In view of the large number of pilgrims participating in the Kedarnath Yatra, the decision is said to have been made.

The Hemkund Sahib Yatra, a significant pilgrimage for Sikhs, is scheduled to begin on May 25, 2024, and conclude on October 10, 2024. These dates were determined in a meeting between Narinder Jit Singh Bindra, Chairman of the Gurdwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Management Trust, and Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Radha Raturi. Currently, the entire region is covered in snow, with depths ranging from 5 to 8 feet. Approximately one month before the pilgrimage starts, army personnel will be tasked with clearing the snow-covered path to ensure safe passage for the pilgrims.

- By Road: Govind Ghat is accessible by road from cities like Rishikesh, Haridwar, and Dehradun. Post arrival at Govind Ghat, the trek begins.
