India Allowed Foreign Tourists From 15 Oct, 15 Nov 2021

Foreign tourist arrival by tusk travel

Last year, all foreigners were denied visas due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of its efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, the Central Government imposed various other restrictions. After the COVID-19 situation evolved, foreign visitors were later allowed to enter India and stay in India using any kind of visa other than the Tourist Visa.

As a result, the MHA has been receiving requests from several state governments as well as various stakeholders in the tourism sector to introduce tourist visas, so foreign tourists can come to India.

Accordingly, the MHA consulted with all the major stakeholders, including the Ministries of Health and Family Welfare, External Affairs, Civil Aviation, Tourism, and various State Governments where foreign tourists are anticipated to reach.

The government has decided to alleviate the Covid barrier to foreign travel by resuming the granting of tourist visas, an effort aimed at increasing tourism and economic growth.

From October 15, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will grant Tourist Visas to foreigners coming to India on chartered flights. From November 15, tourists arriving in India on flights ‘other than chartered aircraft’ will be able to apply for a tourist visa.

The government, however, has outlined all Covid-19 protocols that tourists and carriers should adhere to.
