Indian Railways' Janmashtami gift! New rail bus service Started between Mathura and Vrindavan

In May of this year, Mathura Member of Parliament Hema Malini met with Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Ashwani Vaishnaw. They discussed the plans for developing the Mathura-Vrindavan rail route as part of the Mass Transit System.

In 2022, Lord Krishna’s birthday, Indian Railways revealed that a new intercity train would operate across the cities Mathura in India and Vrindavan. The new rail motor can accommodate 50 passengers and will be powered by a larger engine. Vrindavan is linked to Mathura via a 12km long rail track that is a meter gauge.

Rail buses were reintroduced along this track on 18 November 2021, following a hiatus due to technical difficulties and Covid-19.  The one-way cost of this train was fixed at only Rs 30. The rail bus operates every day twice from Mathura as well as Vrindavan.

The first train departs at Mathura Junction at 8.55 am and ends at Vrindavan around 9.30 am.

The second depart starting from Mathura Junction begins at 3.20 pm. While traveling, there are stops in Sri Krishna Janam Sthan and Masani stations.

Mathura and Vrindavan and the other towns of Mathura district, namely., Goverdhan, Gokul, Barsana, Nandgaon, Mahavan and Dauji and others. There is a massive influx of tourists and devotees throughout the year, particularly during festivals like Holi, Krishna Janmashtami, Shravan maas, and many more.

Although Mathura is connected to all areas of the country by rail and is just 140 kilometers to the south of Delhi on the Delhi NCR Agra Yamuna Expressway, the towns that are its satellites aren’t as great.

The state CM Yogi Adityanath had promised in the past year that the government would build Mathura-Vrindavan and Gokul Dham following Ayodhya and Varanasi.
