India’s first private train IRCTC Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express

Lucknow-New Delhi Tejas Express will start on October 4. This train will be flagged off by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The train will begin its commercial operation right from the inaugural day. It is going to be the fastest train running between Lucknow and New Delhi. The total time of travel would be about 6 hours and 15 minutes. It was declared as a high-end service train that will cover Lucknow Junction and Anand Vihar Terminal. Fares for the Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express is almost the same as that of Shatabdi Express.

Here is the timetable for the train. It will start from Lucknow city at 6.10 am to reach New Delhi city at 12.25 pm. On return, it would depart from New Delhi city at 4.30 pm and arrive Lucknow at 10.45 pm. This train will have an arrangement for an executive class, a chair car, and twelve coaches that have an overall capacity of around 758 passengers. The train would halt at Ghaziabad and Kanpur central.

Lucknow-New Delhi Tejas Express will be introduced with a wide range of new services, such as free of cost travel insurance of Rs. 25 lakhs for each passenger to pick and drop luggage for all of them. This is going to be the first train that will function fully by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation.

Except for Tuesday, this train will run on all the remaining 6 days a week. Another good news about this train is that there is a significant price reduction in its fares. It is projected that its fare will be 50 % less than the fare of other flights operating on the same route.

Here are a few important things to note about this Lucknow-New Delhi Tejas Express:

• The process of booking tickets is made simpler. A person needs to log into the official website of IRCTC and book tickets. There will be no reservation counters available at railway stations for this purpose. However, travelers can book tickets through IRCTC authorized agents. It is also possible to book tickets from other different e-travel portals.

• The reservation period for Tejas Express is sixty days. There will be no privileges, duty pass or concessions, allowed on these trains. Children of ages five years and above are entitled to pay the full price.

• There will be an air-conditioned chair car coach comprising of 78 seats. These seats will be booked on first cum first serve basis. There is also a facility to book these seats in bulk. A coach can be booked at any time from the date of booking till three days in advance of the departure of the train.

• The charges of Lucknow-New Delhi Tejas Express will vary as per the season such as lean, festive and busy seasons. A passenger will have to pay different fares depending on the season.

• The Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express takes pride in offering various passenger-friendly and modern features such as foot-rest in executive class, customized infotainment screens, customized reading lights, attendant call buttons, and automatic sliding doors for exit and entry, and modular style bio-toilets.

• As per IRCTC, there is also a provision made to provide compensation to passengers if the train fails to arrive at the right time. This compensation will be provided in the form of a price concession for future travel or credit to their e-wallet.
