On April 25, 2023, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, launched the primary phase of the country’s first water metro in Kochi. This new addition to India’s existing water transport system is set to provide a seamless commuting experience to the public.

In addition, the boat services have proper terminals and passenger entry and exit gates.

The new water transport service is environmentally friendly, as the feeder boats are battery-powered. The boats are air-conditioned, providing comfort to the passengers. Additionally, the boats are designed to be accessible for the disabled, ensuring that everyone can travel comfortably and safely.

The boat service will commence operations on April 26, 2023, with two initial routes: High Court – Vypin and Vyttila – Kakkanad. Eight feeder boats are ready to start the service, which will run from 7 AM to 8 PM daily. This makes it easy for commuters to travel to their destinations quickly and efficiently.
Costs and Payment Options
The cost for a single ride is INR 20. Passengers can purchase weekly/monthly boat passes or acquire the Kochi One Card, which is valid for both feeder boats and the Kochi Metro.
