Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced that Australia is now open to vaccinated visitors. In a move that ends its longstanding pandemic travel restrictions, the country looks forward to welcoming vaccinated tourists from February 21 on.
In March 2020, the country closed its borders and restricted most foreigners from entering. “It’s been almost two years since we closed Australia’s border,” the Prime Minister said during a media briefing. We look forward to welcoming you back if you are double vaccinated.”

After the COVID pandemic broke out, the country took some very strict measures. Even Australians were prohibited from leaving the country last year. But that is about to change as the country allows its borders to reopen.
Nevertheless, parts of Australia still have some restrictions in place. Western Australia is an example. Non-residents are not allowed into Western Australia, and even Australians from other states cannot enter unless they have a permit.

There have been fewer infections in Australia in the past week, which is also contributing to a drop in hospital admissions. Over 23000 new cases were recorded on Monday. A total of 2.4 million cases have been recorded since the first case of Omicron was recorded back in November.
