The heart of Assam, the Kaziranga National Park, and Tiger Reserve are gearing up to roll out the red carpet for nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers. Starting March 12 , the park is set to reopen its gates for the 2024-25 tourist season, as announced in a recent official statement.
What’s New This Season?
While the park is a haven for diverse wildlife, the unpredictable weather conditions have led to a decision of partial access for visitors. This season, the primary attraction will be the thrilling jeep safaris, available in two specific ranges: the Kaziranga Range in Kohora and the Western Range in Bagori.
However, there’s a slight twist in the tale. Both these ranges will remain closed to tourists every Wednesday afternoon. As of now, the exploration limits for tourists extend up to Bimoli Tiniali in the Western Range of Bagori and from Mihimukh to Daflang Tower via Vaichamari Junction in the Kaziranga Range of Kohora. These arrangements are subject to change based on future official notifications.
A Seasonal Retreat
It’s noteworthy that the Kaziranga National Park traditionally shuts its doors from May to October. This closure is a precautionary step against the potential floods from the Brahmaputra River, ensuring the safety of both the wildlife and the visitors.
Why Kaziranga?
Nestled in the districts of Golaghat, Nagaon, and Sonitpur in Assam, Kaziranga is not just a national park; it’s a testament to India’s rich biodiversity. With the title of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park is globally acclaimed for its significant population of the one-horned Rhinoceros. But that’s not all! Kaziranga is a mosaic of nature’s wonders, from tigers to elephants and many bird species.
A Call to Nature Lovers
Kaziranga National Park is more than just a tourist destination; it’s an experience. Whether you’re a wildlife photographer, a nature lover, or seeking a serene escape, Kaziranga promises a blend of adventure and tranquillity. Witness the majestic one-horned Rhinoceros, hear the whispers of the forest, and let the beauty of the Brahmaputra River captivate your soul.
