The 2024 opening date for Kedarnath Temple will be announced shortly. Currently, the temple is closed for the winter season. Each year, the Kedarnath shrine reopens with a grand ceremonial puja. The main priest, Rawal, is the first to offer prayers and behold the lingam upon the temple’s reopening.
Kedarnath Opening Tentative Dates for 2024:
- Opening Date: April 25, 2024
- Closing Date: November 15, 2024
During the opening ceremony of Kedarnath Dham, thousands of pilgrims gather to witness this sacred event. The opening day, marked by extensive rituals performed by Rawal and other priests, is considered highly auspicious. Devotees from across India and the world attend, eagerly waiting for the moment when they can see the shrine after the inaugural puja.
The closing ceremony is equally magnificent, featuring Garhwal bands. The highlight is the procession of Baba Kedar’s idol to its winter home at the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath.
