Kerala’s first Vande Bharat Express has finally arrived and it is named Kasaragod – Thiruvananthapuram Kerala Vande Bharat Express. The train is the 16th Vande Bharat Express in India and the first for the state of Kerala.

Route and Coverage

The train will travel between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasargod, covering a total of 11 districts in Kerala – Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasargod. This makes it an excellent option for travellers who want to explore the interior parts of Kerala.

Travel Time and Comfort

The total travel time between Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram Central is 8 hours and 05 minutes one way, which is significantly less than the 10 hours and 45 minutes taken by Rajdhani earlier. The new train promises to be a time-saver and a more comfortable option.

Fares and Catering Charges

The train is officially called Kasaragod – Thiruvananthapuram Central – Kasaragod Vande Bharat Express. The fare for a one-way journey from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram Central is INR 1520, inclusive of INR 308 catering charges.

For Executive Class, the fare is INR 2815, inclusive of INR 369 catering charges. The fare for a one-way journey from Thiruvananthapuram Central to Kasaragod is INR 1590 in Chair Car, inclusive of INR 379 catering charges, and INR 2880 in Executive Class, inclusive of INR 434 catering charges. Passengers can choose to exclude catering and pay a lower fare.

Availability

The new train service is available on all days except Thursdays. This is great news for travellers who can now enjoy the comfort and convenience of the Vande Bharat Express while exploring Kerala’s beautiful landscapes.
