The inaugural direct flight between Bangalore and Africa took off on Monday, offering a non-stop journey without any intermediate stops. Scheduled to operate four times a week, this flight will cover the distance in approximately 6 hours and 35 minutes, making it the quickest flight departing from Bangalore.
This new route is particularly beneficial for business travellers frequently commuting between Bengaluru and Addis Ababa. Recognizing the demand, Ethiopian Airlines has ramped up its services, now offering thirty-two weekly flights connecting India and Africa.
Designed to provide the fastest route, the Bangalore to Africa flight caters to business professionals needing an overnight journey. With Bengaluru as India’s epicentre for information and communication technology, and several African countries initiating IT projects in the city, the frequency of business travel between these destinations is anticipated to rise.
Mulugeta, who travelled on the inaugural flight, remarked, “India and Ethiopia have shared strong diplomatic relations since 1948. Currently, over five hundred Indian businesses operate in various sectors in Ethiopia. This new direct passenger flight is set to further strengthen the bond between the two countries.”
