Significance of This Festival
The Malabar River festival will begin in Thushargiri on July 25. Over 100 kayakers from 20 countries and about 200 kayakers from different parts of India and the state will take part in the three-day event, according to P.A. Mohammad Riyas.
This competition was held in Thusharagiri seven times from 2013 to 2019. The 8th edition will take place in 2022 after a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A number of groups work collectively to arrange the Worldwide Kayaking event, including the State Tourism Division, the State Travel Tourism Promotion Society, the Indian Canoeing and Kayaking Association, the District Tourism Promotion Council, and the Thiruvambadi and Kodancherry Panchayats.
For those who are new to this festival and those unfamiliar with the Malabar River Festival, the festival began in 2013. The 8th edition of the Malabar River Festival is coming to Thusharagiri in Kozhikode, Kerala (July 25 – 28), and we are sure when we say it will be an epic event.

Malabar River Festival is organized by the Kerala Tourism Department in collaboration with District Tourism Promotion Council and Kozhikode District Panchayat.

These kayakers will compete in the raging waters that flow through Iruvazhinji Puzha and Chalipuzha, tributaries of the massive Chaliyar River. There will be various categories, such as The Extreme Race, Boater Cross, and Giant Slalom, where the competitors compete against one another to be the next Rapid Raja or Rapid Rani. The winners receive these titles.
