The Maldives continues to see the sign of growth with a growing number of Indian travelers every year.
The island country noticed a large growth of 96.4% in tourist arrivals from India from January to May 2019 as compared to the same time last year. Till May of 2019, Maldives hosted around 66,265 tourists from the third-largest economy of Asia.
The managing director of Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC) namely Thoyyib Mohamed said: “The nation identified tremendous growth in tourist arrivals from India in this year. India has become a significant market to us which exhibits the ability for further growth as a number of direct connections have made it easily accessible to traverse the Maldives.”
Till May 2019, the Indian market stands in third place with respect to arrivals to the Maldives with a market share of 8.8%. Furthermore, as India comes in the top five ranking list with good accessibility to the Maldives, MMPRC (Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation) plans to further nourish the market with more activities in the whole year.
