Multiple Airlines Suspend Flights to Tel Aviv Amid Recent Conflict

The airline offers services between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport, which is situated a short distance from Gaza, as mentioned by CNN.

American Airlines emphasized their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of passengers. They stated, “We are actively collaborating with our airline partners to support passengers wishing to leave Tel Aviv safely.” Furthermore, they have updated their travel advisory to provide more flexibility for travelers affected by these changes.

Recently, Delta Air Lines, which serves Israel from cities like Atlanta, JFK, and Boston, announced the suspension of its flights for the remainder of October.

On Tuesday, the State Department expressed its hope for airlines to reconsider their operations to and from Israel. This comes after Israel’s conflict with Hamas, which led to an unexpected attack on October 7. In light of this, several airlines have either halted or postponed their flights to Israel.

For instance, Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong called off its Tuesday flight to and from Tel Aviv. Similarly, Air Canada has temporarily stopped all its operations to Israel. Ryanair from Ireland has also paused its services to Tel Aviv until October 11 due to operational constraints.

Other airlines like Air India and Lufthansa have announced flight cancellations up to October 14. Norwegian Air has extended its suspension until October 15.

Korean Air, on the other hand, has only canceled one of its weekly flights to Tel Aviv. However, they intend to operate a special flight from Tel Aviv to Incheon on Tuesday to assist Korean citizens in returning home.
