Water taxis are now available in Mumbai. This was flagged off on Thursday by the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways & AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal. Udhav Thackeray, Maharashtra Chief Minister was the first to flag off the first water taxi from Belapur Jetty.
Water taxis can also be used to connect to other destinations such as Elephanta Island and Belapur, Nerul, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, and Nerul. With this water taxi service, travelers from Navi Mumbai can travel 3 hours less and visit the Gateway of India. Belapur Jetty was built at a cost of INR 8.37 Crore.

According to the Union Minister, the water taxi service will boost tourism in Navi Mumbai, particularly to the historic Elephanta caves. Travel from Navi Mumbai to Gateway of India will be easy for visitors. It will begin at the Domestic Cruise Terminal (DCT) and connect nearby destinations including Nerul, Belapur, Elephanta Island, and JNPT.

The Sagarmala Scheme of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways funded the jetty in the 50-50 format. Sonowal stated that the Sagarmala Programme helped to develop many projects such as modernization of ports, rail, road, and cruise tourism, RORO, among others.
Mumbai water taxis are unique in India. Here’s a breakdown of their fare and how you can book one for your trip.
You will need to pay INR 1210 for a trip from the Domestic Cruise Terminal (DCT), Belapur, or vice versa. It will take 55 minutes to travel from DCT-Dharamtar and cost you INR 2000. You can travel from DCT to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in 20 minutes and will pay INR 200.
You can also purchase a monthly pass to speed boats for INR 12100. The water taxi will take only 30 minutes to travel between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
