This year, Mussoorie Winterline Carnival 2022 will return to the city at the end of December, after almost two years due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Bringing back the tourism-attracting festival is expected to include shows by artists, nature walks, heritage walks, and a traditional food festival. The announcement was made recently by the Mussoorie District Magistrate’s office.
Among the activities planned are heritage walks, stargazing, nature walks, performances by various artists, including folk artists, and more. The Carnival will take place in the last week of December and take place all over the town. The main aim of the program is to speak to all generations of people who visit the festival.
About the Carnival

It is a time when all of Mussoorie’s streets will be colored in the beautiful colors of Uttrakhand. It is expected that tourists from around the country will be able to see Queen Of Hills’ winter line and capture this mesmerizing scene in the coming days. During that time, in the evenings, a straight red line is seen over the horizon.
This unique phenomenon is known as the winter line. In honour of this gorgeous scenery, the Winterline Carnival is organized and planned around New Year’s Eve when a variety of events take place including music, arts, and folk music.
What is the Winterline phenomenon and why Mussoorie?
Winterline phenomena occur when light refracts at dusk, forming a false horizon. This phenomenon is only visible in mountainous regions. This phenomenon occurs in a few areas in Switzerland and parts of the Himalayas. In India, Mussoorie and Mizoram get the most prominent winter lines.
Mussorie Winterline Carnival 2022 Date
According to officials, the carnival will take place from 25th December till 29th December/30th December, although the exact date has not been announced.

Mussorie Winterline Carnival Venue
It is likely that the Carnival will be held at the stretch of Mall Road. Additionally, the entire town will be engulfed by the Winterline Carnival festivities.
Attractions and Activities in Mussorie Winterline Carnival
Aside from adventure sports like paragliding and bungee jumping, cycling and skating are also available at the carnival.
As well as shopping and dancing to traditional Garhwali, rock and instrumental music, visitors can buy clothes, food, handicraft items, footwear, and leather items.
A puppet show and camel rides will both be available for children. There will also be a food festival with mouth-watering cuisine and delicacies. There will also be campfires lit across the town.
As per DM, the daily programs should be organized into series, the participating artists should be listed, and the calendar-based programs should be scheduled.
As well as the star artists and folk artists from the state, the DM said it was imperative to include folk artists from other states in the festival as well.
Also, the DM directed that the festival be widely advertised and that a number of competitions and programs would be held throughout the festival.
