In recent news, Nepal has announced a number of measures designed to boost tourism by easing travel for fully vaccinated international travelers. There will no longer be a requirement for international travelers to undergo a pre-departure PCR test when visiting the Himalayan region.
The passengers will only need to show their vaccination certificates now. Considering the current situation in Nepal, the Covid-19 Crisis Management Coordination Center (CCMC) of the Government of Nepal has made the decision to drop the PCR requirement for passengers who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
There are reports that Nepal is taking cautious steps to revive its badly hit tourism sector with strategic action plans being developed by a committee of stakeholders in the public and private sectors.
This committee will advise the government on a number of topics pertaining to the sustainable growth of tourism in the country, including policy reforms, promotional events, branding, infrastructure, marketing and promotion, service standardization, product development, etc.
Some of the initiatives aligned by the committee for tourism revival include:
Exempting fully vaccinated travelers from the mandatory PCR test.
During this time of revival, international travelers will receive special discounts on domestic flights.
A 20% discount will also be offered to international visitors staying at hotels affiliated with the Hotel Association of Nepal.
Nirmal Puja, the world record-breaking Nepalese mountaineer, has been appointed the country’s new Goodwill Ambassador for tourism.
According to reports, the committee will announce further recovery initiatives and action plans very soon within April 2022.
