RT-PCR tests must be pre-booked for international passengers heading from ‘at risk’ countries arriving at six Indian airports. As part of its efforts to contain the spread of Omicron, the Ministry of Civil Aviation issued instructions last week.

According to reports, the standards have been listed for airports in

  1. Delhi
  2. Mumbai
  3. Kolkata
  4. Chennai
  5. Bengaluru, and
  6. Hyderabad.

An official government notification discloses that the Air Suvidha portal will be modified to cater to passengers arriving from countries that are at risk or have recently visited them.

With reference to the Ministry’s latest update, it clarified that this is only the first stage of protocol implementation. Once the said system is stabilized and can facilitate passengers for pre-booking, the rule will likely be extended to other airports as well.
