India’s Railways is all set to introduce several Bharat Gaurav trains soon that will let you experience Indian culture and heritage like never before. Ashwini Vaishnaw, the railway minister, said that after freight and passenger segments, the railways will launch a set of around 190 theme-based trains, called Bharat Gaurav trains.
During a press conference, the railways minister said the IRCTC and the private sector will operate these trains.
He said “These are not regular trains that will be run on timetables. We have identified 3,033 coaches or 190 trains for these theme-based trains. After passenger and goods segments, we will start the tourism segment to run Bharat Gaurav trains. These trains will showcase India’s culture and heritage. We have invited applications for them from today,”.
Additionally, he explained that the plan originated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi who suggested theme-based trains for people to understand, appreciate, and carry forward India’s heritage.
Additionally, he stated that the fares for these trains will be determined by tour operators but that the railways will ensure that there is no abnormality in the prices. State governments have expressed interest in these trains such as Odisha, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, he said.
