According to Nishant Jain, Director of the Department of Tourism, “The East of Rajasthan is imbued with the essence of Braj, and the annual Braj Holi festival of Rajasthan tourism department is a celebration of the rich traditions. Traditional sports, dance, and music are all on the cards to enthrall visitors of all ages.”
Located in eastern Rajasthan to Uttar Pradesh, the traditional region of Braj is known for its unique culture which is inspired by Shri Krishna and his “Leelas” of adolescence. As a result, the Holi festival becomes even more auspicious and enchanting at Braj, and for this reason, people from all over the country and abroad visit the region every year to participate in it. Several activities have been planned for the festival to make it memorable for visitors, Mr. Jain explained.
Moreover, Mr. Nishant Jain noted that the Braj Mahotsav will begin from Bharatpur with popular local sports events such as kabaddi and kho-kho at the Lohagarh Stadium, as well as ‘Mehendi’ and ‘rangoli making’, turban tying, and mustache competitions. At the same time, the renowned singer Vidya Shah will be performing at a ‘Mega Night-Cultural Evening’ where she will captivate the audience with her melodious voice.
At Deeg, the second day of the festival will be celebrated with sports activities like kabaddi, rope pulling, etc., as well as ‘Mehendi’ art and rangoli making competitions, turban tying, and mustache competitions, Jain said.
Additionally, during the evening, visitors will be able to enjoy a colorful fountain show, Rajasthani folk artists, and a performance by Manjari Chaturvedi, a well-known classical Indian Kathak dancer.
Mr. Jain also said, “The closing day will see the various forms of Holi, including Gulal Holi, Dudh-Dahi Holi, Laddu Holi, and Lathmar Holi, in various temples in Kaman, followed by the ‘Shobhayatra’ of Rajasthani folk artists from the Gopinath Temple to the Vallabh Ji Temple. ‘Krishna Bhajan Sandhya’ and ‘Braj Rasiya.
