Serbia

It has been decided by Serbia, a Central European nation, to end the visa-free travel regulations for citizens of India, in view of the requirements of EU visa policy and measures taken to control illegal migrants.

It is important to note that an Indian Embassy travel advisory in Belgrade, Serbia has also been issued regarding this issue, advising that Indians visiting Serbia from January 1, 2023, will need to obtain a visa before they can enter.

It has now been announced that the Government of Serbia has withdrawn from the existing arrangement that allows all Indian passport holders to enter Serbia visa-free and stay there up to a maximum of 30 days.

It used to be that Indian travelers holding ordinary passports and other travel documents were not required to obtain a visa in order to enter Serbia for a period of up to 30 days within a period of 1 year.

As a result of the new developments, the Indian Embassy in Serbia has issued an advisory to all Indian nationals who are planning to visit Serbia on or after January 1, 2023, that they must apply for a visa at the Serbian Embassy in New Delhi or in their country of residence.

Additionally, the Embassy added that Indians who possess a valid Schengen, UK, or US visa will also be able to enter Serbia for a period of up to 90 days without a visa provided they have a valid Schengen, UK, or US visa.

As well as the aforementioned, it is also important to make note that starting on November 20, the Serbian government has also decided to discontinue the visa-free regime for Guinea-Bissau, Tunisia, and Burundi as well.
