There is an immediate opening of all tourist spots across the South Andaman district by the Andaman & Nicobar Administration. Nevertheless, it has been noted that tourists will have to follow strict COVID protocols, as well as follow COVID-recommended behavior. In previous press reports, the authorities had announced the reopening of the sound and light show at the Cellular jail, museums, and NSCB island.
Moreover, the District Magistrate of South Andaman District Suneel Anchipaka spoke of several further relaxations of COVID guidelines, which include allowing political, social, entertainment, sports, religious, cultural, and festival-related gatherings and congregations. Playgrounds, parks, gymnasiums, stadiums, and yoga centers have also been allowed to reopen. The night curfew has also been lifted with no restrictions. According to reports, the order went into effect immediately and remains in effect until further notice.
In response to the rise in Omicron cases, the Andaman and Nicobar administration announced the closure of all tourist spots in the second week of January. On the other hand, the authorities announced last week that tourist spots will reopen at 50% capacity, and they will announce specific operational timings.
A negative COVID-19 test report that has been taken within 48 hours before departure will be required for all arrivals at the Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair, including those who are partially and fully vaccinated.
Apart from this, all arriving passengers with a history of foreign travel in the past 30 days, as well as parts and unvaccinated passengers will undergo RT-PCR on arrival and will have to be isolated until the test results are released. In addition, any person who tests positive for COVID-19 on arrival must follow the prescribed quarantine protocol.
