The latest reports indicate that fresh snowfalls, which occurred recently in the entire Lahaul and Spiti districts, have caused serious traffic jams. According to reports, these regions have been experiencing heavy snowfall since Wednesday, which has caused the blockage of the district’s connected roads.
It is reported that the road leading to Spiti valley from the Manali side was blocked due to heavy snowfall at Kunzum pass on the Manali-Leh highway due to heavy snowfall near the Atal tunnel. The road heading to Spiti valley from the Manali side was also closed due to heavy snowfall near the Atal tunnel.
As far as reports are concerned, Keylong, the main district headquarters, has also received considerable snowfall in the past few days as well. In addition, all internal road links within the district have been closed as the police reported that traffic has come to a standstill in the entire district as a result of heavy snowfall in the region.
In response, the district administration issued an advisory and urged the public to refrain from unnecessary trips to the Lahaul and Spiti valleys.
The Border Roads Organization has been working tirelessly to ensure road connectivity between Manali and Lahaul through the Atal tunnel on the Manali-Leh highway.
