The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) recently launched the Monsoon Trekking program to increase tourism in the hinterland regions. In his address at the launch celebration in Tambdi Surla in South Goa, GTDC Chairman and Sanvordem MLA Dr. Ganesh Gaonkar said that this initiative will increase the region’s value. It will aid in creating jobs for the locals.
According to reports, more than eight million visitors travel to Goa each year. Most choose to go to beaches to soak in the sun, sand, and the ocean on their holiday. However, it appears that the Goa Government is also focusing on the tourism of the hinterlands.
In this regard, Gaonkar said that there are many things that one cannot experience on the beaches. In hinterland regions, you can get 100% fresh air at no cost while they don’t have to spend money for it, he said.
He also assured travelers of a safe trek. He also said, “Your security is of the utmost importance.”
