A new set of updated guidelines shared recently by the government of India allows fully vaccinated international travelers to leave the airport and not undergo home quarantine.
Travelers from countries that India has reciprocal agreements with for accepting Covid-19 vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) are affected by this decision.
All international passengers arriving in India must provide an RT-PCR negative report. Additionally, all airlines will check covid test reports before onboarding foreign travelers.
Government officials in a statement said, “The existing guidelines for international arrivals in India have been reviewed in view of increased vaccination coverage worldwide and the changing nature of the pandemic”.
The new guidelines will apply to passengers coming to India from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Nepal, Belarus, Lebanon, Armenia, Ukraine, Belgium, Hungary, and Serbia.
There will be additional measures for passengers arriving in India from at-risk countries, including South Africa, Brazil, Bangladesh, Botswana, China, Mauritius, New Zealand, and Zimbabwe.

1. Those who arrive partially or unvaccinated must follow the procedures that include submission of samples for Covid-19 screening upon arrival, quarantine in the country for seven days, further self-monitoring for seven more days if negative.
2. These new guidelines outline protocols that should be followed by international travellers as well as those that should be followed by airlines, points of entry (airports, seaports, and land borders) when profiling passengers for risk.
3. Passengers are also required to submit a declaration regarding the authenticity of the report. If the report is found to be untrue, it will be subject to criminal prosecution.

5. Passengers who have completed the Self Declaration Form on the Air Suvidha website will be permitted to board.
6. After the thermal screening, only asymptomatic travelers will be permitted to board.
7. Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) will be effective from Monday until further notice. This document will be reviewed periodically based on the risk assessment, the ministry said.
