The United Kingdom recently announced the removal of all testing requirements for fully vaccinated individuals following the success of booster programs and vaccinations. The new rule will come into effect at 4 a.m. on February 11, according to reports.
According to a statement by the British High Commission in New Delhi, fully vaccinated travellers will only need to fill out a simplified version of the passenger locator form (PLF), which will confirm their vaccination status, contact details, and travel history, and people will have an additional day to fill it out before they depart.
For those not as fully vaccinated, a pre-departure test and a PCR test will be required on the second day after arrival in the United Kingdom. Under 18-year-olds will continue to be considered fully vaccinated when traveling abroad, regardless of their vaccination status.
Thus, the UK will eliminate all testing measures by 4 AM on 11 February for eligible fully vaccinated travellers traveling there. The move comes as the government takes one step closer to reopening the tourism industry. As a result of this announcement, the disruptions that COVID-19 caused to tourism and business in the United Kingdom will be alleviated.
According to reports, London will include 16 more countries and territories, including Mexico and China, on its list of recognized vaccine certificates. This will bring the total number of recognized vaccine certificates to 180. Note that India and all the countries of South Asia are included in this list.
