As of 1st October, Mauritius’ borders will be reopened for international travelers again. Travelers who are completely vaccinated and have been looking forward to visiting Mauritius for a long time should rejoice.
Anyone visiting the Mauritius island 72 hours prior to their departure with a valid PCR negative RT-PCR report will be able to explore the island without any limitations. In 2021, the rule will go into effect on October 1st.
In spite of the partial opening of the island nation in mid-July, only vaccinated visitors who are willing to spend at least 14 days in a resort bubble’ are allowed to visit for now.
Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) Director Arvind Bundhun commented on this, saying, “We are thrilled to see the world open up for travel again.” According to him, since mid-July the island nation has been receiving international visitors, and that the “resort bubbles” have been a huge success.
Additionally, he said the second phase of reopening borders will take place on October 1, when vaccinated tourists will be allowed to explore the island without any restrictions from the moment of their arrival until they depart the island. The safety and security of Mauritius’s inhabitants, citizens, and visitors, he said, remain key concerns.
