Within the next five years, the Uttarakhand government plans to link 17 tourist destinations in the Kumaon region of the hill state under the Manaskhand circuit. The project will connect Jageshwar temple, Kainchi Dham, Mukteshwar, Purnagiri temple, and Golu Devta temple. Furthermore, a parking lot will also be built near Kainchi Dham, set up by the mystic Neem Karori Baba, whose followers include Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “We have designed elaborate plans for boosting tourism in Kumaon.”. The Kumaon range has major potential and several mesmerizing locations and places of religious importance.” He added, “Better road connectivity would be provided to the identified locations. Also, broadening of roads would be done at places required.”

The CM further said, “As a pilot project, we are developing a parking area near Kainchi Dham and later, we will do so at other locations.” He did not fail to mention that followers from different parts of the country come to Kumaon to seek the blessings of Golu Devta and visit Jageshwar Dham.

“Devotees from the country and abroad come to the Kanchi Dham of Baba Neem Karoli. Therefore, we are developing this circuit to help tourists visit several locations in a single visit,” the CM said.

According to Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, the Kumaon region has identified several tourist destinations that could boost tourism. The government had identified Munisyari in Pithoragarh under the “13 districts, 13 new tourist destinations” scheme, Kausani in Bageshwar, Katarmal in Almora, and Muketeshwar in Nainital, Lohaghat in Champawat and Parag Farm of Udham Singh Nagar. In all of these locations, infrastructure work has been conducted under different themes. Munsiyari now has laser tourism, Kausani tea tourism, a meditation theme for Katarmal and Mukteshwar laser tourism, as well as Lohaghat has hill station tourism.

According to the Minister, Kumaon has contributed a large number of people to the defense forces and paramilitary forces, so the government is considering honoring them in some way. Maharaj added, “We are working on various lines to attract more tourists to Kumaon.”
