Manas National Park is a beautiful place, located in the two districts of Assam State, Bongaigaon and Barpeta. Manas is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Tiger Reserve, Elephant Reserve, Biosphere Reserve, National Park, and a Wildlife Sanctuary. Manas was declared a national park in 1990. The park is named after the 'Manas river' and 'Mansa', the goddess of snakes. The park is home to a number of endangered animals including hairy rabbits, Assam's umbrella turtles, stocky pigs, and golden langurs.
There are 55 species of mammals, 380 birds, 50 reptiles, and more than 3 species of amphibians in this park.
Places to Visit Manas
Manas located in Assam is known for its spectacular scenery and natural landscape. Many places in Manas National Park are worth visiting, which attracts tourists. Among the attractions here is the summer palace of the King of Bhutan which is situated on the Manas River. You have to hire a boat to go to Bhutan for which you have to get permission in advance. To walk to the Summer Palace of the King of Bhutan, you have to walk 1 kilometer which is guarded by the watchman.

Manas National Park is easily accessible by road, train, and flight. The nearest airport is Borjhar which is located in Guwahati. The railway station near Manas is Barpeta Road Junction. The park is well connected to other parts of Assam by road.

The best time to visit this park is from October to April.
