Places to Visit Sivasagar
On reaching Sivasagar, first of all you will see a huge lake which is called Sivasagar lake. Kumud and lotus flowers are strewn throughout the lake, in the backdrop of spectacular red temples. Based on the name of this lake, this city has been named Sivasagar. There are 3 temples near this lake which are known as Shivdol, Vishnudol and Devidol. These temples were built by Rani Ambika during the early period of 18th century, according to which these temples are about 300 years old. This place is very attractive for tourists interested in history.
How to Reach Sivasagar
Sivasagar is well connected to the rest of the country due to good road conditions. The railway station is just 16 km away in Simalguri. However there is no airport in the city and the nearest airport is at Jorhat, 55 km away. From here one can travel to Sibsagar by taxi or bus.
