Being the capital of the Sisodiya Rajputs of Mewar, it is popular for its palaces that represent the finesse of Rajputana Style architecture. The Sisodiya Rajput Ruler Maharana Udai Singh II founded Udaipur in 1553. Finding this city, the Rajputs were able to relocate their capital from Chittor to a secure area. Recently, many of the palaces are converted into hotels which attract many visitors to this place.
