Sunburn Festival 2021 will not be held in Goa

The popular Sunburn Festival will not be held in Goa this year. Pramod Sawant, the Chief Minister of Goa, recently announced that this year’s festival has not been granted permission.

In response to the COVID situation, the state’s year-end tourism highlight, Percept Live’s EDM Sunburn festival, will not take place this year.

He told media personnel, “We have not given Sunburn permission to hold the festival this year. The file has already been handed overstating this.”

In reference to this, Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar expressed his support for the festival, adding that it would not be held without the Chief Minister’s sanction.

Further, the Minister of Tourism reiterated that all decisions regarding the hosting of such events must be made by the Chief Minister. The CMO is aware of the pandemic situation and the SOPs, he said. While the file had come to them, the CMO had to decide what to do about it, he said. It is the chief minister who makes the final decision, adding that he might have made the call keeping in mind the state’s COVID situation.
