Ropeway Surkanda Devi Temple in Uttarakhand

There has just been a new ropeway at the Surkanda Devi Temple in Uttarakhand, which should ease the way for tourists and devotees seeking darshan. A ropeway service between Kaddukhal and Siddhpeeth Devi was inaugurated by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who offered prayers at Maa Surkanda Devi Temple.

According to Dhami, this ropeway will benefit visitors and devotees seeking the darshan of Maa Surkanda Devi. Formerly, they had to walk approximately two hours to get to the place, whereas now they can easily get there. In addition, he mentioned that this service will also benefit local people’s livelihoods, along with boosting adventure and religious tourism.

According to him, such projects provide commuters and tourists with a major form of pollution-free transportation. He added that the state government is working on various ropeway projects in each district under the Parvatmala scheme of the Center.

In addition to adventure water sports, the Chief Minister said other tourism-related activities are being discussed for the giant lake in Tehri district, which covers 42 square kilometers.

Reports indicate that the Chief Minister also requested District Magistrate Tehri identify land for the permanent construction of a helipad in this area. With the ropeway service for Maa Surkanda, the number of devotees will grow rapidly, according to Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj. In view of the Chardham Yatra, he added that all possible facilities will be provided for the devotees.

According to media reports, the ropeway was constructed at a cost of about INR 5 crores, and it stretches for about 502 meters. The ropeway can transport 500 passengers an hour.
