Portugal has finally lifted the COVID-19 entry requirements, making it much easier for travelers. In the future, visitors will not need to present an unfavorable RT Test report for PCR or any other test with a negative report or proof of vaccination.
July 1 marked the day that Portugal relaxed all entry restrictions, as stated on the official website for tourism Visit Portugal. The country has joined the ranks of other European countries, which have loosened restrictions on entry for pandemics in the past few months.
The website says, “As of July 1, 2022, passengers entering national territory (including Azores and Madeira) are no longer required to present proof of carrying out a test to screen for SARS-CoV-2 infection with a negative result or to present a COVID-EU digital certificate or vaccination or recovery certificate issued by third countries, accepted or recognized in Portugal.
“The document further states that the current policies could be revised as the situation changes during this pandemic. The country began welcoming travelers coming from the United States in June 2021, and at that time, travelers were required to submit a negative test before entering the country.
While the rules are being relaxed, face masks are mandatory on public transport. Madeira Masks are required for anyone older than six on public transportation and are recommended for enclosed areas.
June saw Italy could also lift all travel requirements for travelers. Other countries that have eliminated entry requirements include the United Kingdom, Sweden, Iceland, Ireland, and Croatia.
