The state has approved 13 new eco-tourism destinations to encourage eco-tourism in Odisha. Ten of the 13 are eco-retreats that offer overnight accommodation (lodging), while three are nature camps open to day visitors.

The new eco-tourism project will allow for more local involvement in the management and hospitality of the sites. This allows local communities to make a living from it and help them manage and preserve the locations.

It’s no secret that conserving nature benefits everyone, particularly the local communities. It is also possible to form eco-tourism societies.

New eco cottages will also be built in Kotia, Deomali, and Kalahandi hilltops in Koraput, Jakam, and Simlipal, Silviculture Garden in Phulbani and Kanjipani Ghat, Hadagarh dam, and Keonjhar forest subdivision.

Soon, Odisha will be home to 63 eco-retreats, nature camps, and the latest 13 sites. These eco-tourism destinations have been developed with a lot of thought. These eco-tourism destinations are gaining popularity in the state. This is not just from local tourists but also tourists from around the world.

The number of tourists visiting these eco-tourism destinations is on the rise. These eco-tourism destinations saw their highest number of visitors in 2021-2022.
