Delhi Tourism Launches Heritage Walks to Showcase Capital’s Charm and History

Today, Delhi Tourism is launching heritage walks to exhibit the splendor of the capital’s major hubs and to provide comprehensive insights into the monuments and their related history. According to reports, six circuits have been chosen for these heritage walks.

General Manager of Delhi Tourism, Geetika Sharma, stated that they aim to provide a fully immersive experience, and for this purpose, they have identified six different walks. Two of them are located in Old Delhi, one is in Shahjahanabad, another in Qutub Minar and Mehrauli Archaeological Park, one in Hauz Khas, and the last one is a walk of museums and memorials.

Today, the Minister of Tourism of the Delhi government, Atishi, will inaugurate the heritage walks. General Manager added that these walks will continue on Saturdays and Sundays from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM.

As per reports, the guided walks will be approximately three hours long and will be led by licensed government guides who have extensive knowledge about these circuits. These guides have been selected after a rigorous interaction process and are accredited by the Ministry of Tourism, as Geetika assured.

Furthermore, Geetika Sharma highlighted that for the Hauz Khas walk, visitors can expect to learn about the water history of Delhi and how people in medieval times sourced water from Baolis, natural lakes, and other water bodies. These heritage walks aim to facilitate not only the beauty of these monuments but also in-depth knowledge about them and lesser-known facts.
