Key Highlights of the Dehradun – Mussoorie Ropeway Project:

  • Project Leaders: The ambitious project is being spearheaded by the Mussoorie Sky Car Company Pvt. Ltd., a consortium that includes FIL Industries Private Ltd, POMA SAS France, and SRM Engineering LLP.
  • Ropeway Specifications: Touted as the nation’s longest, the mono-cable ropeway stretches over 5.5 km.
  • Investment and Timeline: With an investment of INR 300 crore, the ropeway is set to be operational by September 2026.
  • Travel Time: The ropeway promises to reduce the travel time between Dehradun and Mussoorie to a mere 15 minutes, a significant drop from the current 1.5 to 3 hours.
  • Cabin Features: For the first time in India, the ropeway will feature 10-seater cabins that are enclosed, fully ventilated, glazed, and equipped with automatic doors.
  • Passenger Capacity: Initially, the cabins will accommodate 1300 passengers per hour in each direction.
  • Operational Throughout the Year: Regardless of weather conditions, be it rain or snow, the ropeway will remain functional.

Owais Altaf Syed, Group Director of FIL Industries Limited, expressed his enthusiasm about the project. He highlighted that this is their second ropeway project in India after the Skyview by Empyrean in Patnitop, Jammu. Emphasizing the global standards of the project, he said, “The Mussoorie-Dehradun sustainable ropeway project is being built with state-of-the-art, world-class infrastructure. It will not only boost employment and state revenue but will also attract global tourists, significantly contributing to the state’s GDP.”
