The Kabini region is well known for its wildlife, thanks to the Kabini Wildlife Reserve, a part of the Nagarahole Nature Reserve. It is a very popular destination among visiting Karnataka tourists. The Kabini Forest Reserve in Karnataka takes its name from the Kabini river that flows through it. This forms the south-eastern part of Nature Reserve Nagarahole. The Kabini Forest Reserve occupies 55 acres of land and is made up of dense forests, hilly areas, lakes, and streams. After the village that was submerged by it, the Kabini Dam forms a huge lake here called the Mastigudi Lake. This dam separates nature reserve Nagarahole from reserve Bandipur.
